Below are some examples of products and innovations developed by Stridsberg group companies:

Compact servo motors

HDD servo motors AB, a sister company of Stridsberg Powertrain AB design and manufacture highly compact servo motors to a large number of customers all over the world.

• Same Torque: 4.2 Nm
• at same speed: 3000 rpm
• and at same copper winding temperature rise (100C)
• But 4 times smaller volume

SAAB Aerospace application

Shown below is a motor developed for a SAAB manned aircraft. The highly redundant motor and power electronics are both from Stridsberg Powertrain AB. The 11 kg air cooled motor has a potential power of 33 kW at 3600 rpm i. e. 4 hp/kg (only 20 kW is used in the aircraft). The design permits operation even after single failures such as shorted capacitors, broken transistors or shorted windings or cables.

Actuator systems

Actuators move for example control surfaces or doors in aircrafts. Stridsberg Powertrain AB is working with a wide range of patented innovations relevant to actuator designs:

• Archtectures for redundant multiprocessor systems that permits more simple and transparent software
• Highly reliable motor power electronics architecture
• Highly reliable electric motor architecture
• Compact anti-jamming designs
• Compact multiredundant position transducers

Stridsberg Powertrain AB is a Contractor in the DRESS project of the Sixth Framework Programme of the European Community (2002-2006). DRESS stands for Distributed and Redundant Electro mechanical nose gear Steering System. Stridsberg Powertrain AB has supplied the project with highly redundant electric motors with high torque to volume ratio.

Shown is a 10 kN actuator incorporating several Stridsberg patents and developed by SAAB and the Swedish military.

SAAB Avitronics AB supplies actuators to aircraft manufacturers as licensee of Stridsberg Licensing AB

Wrist motor

A new robotics concept is being developed by an EU FP6 project “SMErobot™ - The European Robot Initiative for Strengthening the Competitiveness of SMEs in Manufacturing“

• The new robot has 3+2+1 arms connecting a light platform to three linear movements
• It requires wrist motors with exceptional data

A Stridsberg prototype shows three times higher continuous power to mass ratio when compared to existing gear motors.
